Chinyere Ukaegbu is a physical therapist and wardrobe stylist from Washington D.C. by way of Nigeria. Her name, Chinyere, means God's gift in her native Igbo language of Nigeria. Her Igbo culture comes to life in both her love of texture and prints, her attention to detail, and her tendency to dress up for every occasion. She met Nigerian-American fashion designer Odunayo Ade, founder of OYATO Artistry, during her undergraduate studies in New York. OYATO is an adjective meaning unequivocally different in the Yoruba language of Nigeria. Appropriate to this definition, Chinyere, while studying Anthropology and Chemistry, went on to work as a wardrobe stylist for OYATO Artistry. She also worked as an annual dresser for American fashion designer Tracy Reese during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. She then interned with Nigerian-American blogger and stylist, Joy Adaeze where she learned skills in navigating the fashion world through a balance of blogging and styling. Chinyere puts pieces together to create a masterpiece of an ensemble—a story through clothing. Always looking to make new connections, Styled By Chin seeks to bring peace to your closet, by piecing together details of clothing to tell your story, no matter how short, long, dull or bright it may be.

Aesthetic Restlessness
by Chinyere Ukaegbu
Say it with your chest
This is
Me
But that is me too
Because me comes through
Exuding patterns and prints
Looking splattered, but no lint
Mixing battered with well spent
Running far from the cool
Winding all these ideas with no spool
I’d rather cut it out
Then paste it back
Then cut it out in a different shape
Forget “I’m different”
I’m paced.
And I’ll place lace in exactly the right place
While my momma say it’s wrong
Still, I’ll trace
Moving at my own pace
Grooving to big bass
yet in hasty silence
I pick out my outfit
Extracting the lint
Trying to capture a scent
I recalled
Motto
To style is the Renovate, Rejuvenate, and Refresh.
